High definition
HDTV stands for High Definition Television, the high-resolution television of the future (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and MPEG2).

MPEG4/H.264 is an improved compression process for digital television and HDTV, a successor of MPEG2.

1080i and 720p HDTV video formats: "p" stands for "progressive" and "i" for "interlaced" images.

Standard definition
SDTV stands for Standard Definition Television, which is the basic PAL signal.

The HDCI-2000 uses the latest image enhancement technology to make even SDTV programs appear sharper than ever, using a HDMI or YUV output.

Dolby digital sound

Q. Can I receive BBC HD using this box?
A. Yes you can provided you have a satellite dish pointing at the correct satellite.

Q. I have a Sky dish and Sky box can I receive BBC HD?
A. You need a HD receiver like the Humax HDCI2000 to receive BBC HD. You can connect the Humax box to your existing antenna and you should receive BBC HD

Q. Can I receive Sky HD using this box?
A. No this box cannot receive encrypted channels. It can only receive unencrypted free to air HD channels and also unencrypted SD channels.

Q. Can this box record programmes or does it have the PVR features?
A. No this box is only a receiver and not a recorder or PVR.

Note: You require HD ready television to receive HD transmission.
